UK Storm 2013

Last weekend I was reading an interesting blog called ‘The Polyglut’. Since the writer of the blog is learning Mandarin, they posted an entry in Chinese  – which then inspired me to give it a go! I know that my Chinese isn’t perfect, so I apologise if there are a lot of mistakes (I especially apologise to my teachers).

From yesterday evening until this morning, the UK was hit by what was apparently its worst storm in the last five years, known as St. Jude. The reaction of most British people after hearing this weather report was to make a joke about it, which is something I’m also guilty of. It’s a bit unbelievable since the weather this time of year is usually just constant drizzle. In the end I found out today that the branches had been stripped from trees, about 20,000 homes had lost power and there were also a few casualties. Some of my colleagues were late to work because they couldn’t get on any trains. What about my neighbourhood?

It actually wasn’t that windy there… so I just walked to work as usual.

(Unfortunately not everyone was that lucky. I hope you’re all ok!)
